Longshore Women

Dublin Core

Title

Longshore Women

Description

Women have been doing work on the docks for some time.
In Los Angeles/Long Beach, women sued to get into longshore work, culminating in the Golden Consent Decree in around 1982. The Decree called for a percentage incoming cohorts of new casuals to be women until at least 20 percent of longshore workers were women.
We'd like to expand this collection to include women doing dock work internationally. There are a few images of women doing this work in European ports.
